Fishing
The A & S run monthly fishing competitions for small boats (inshore) and larger boats offshore. Boats launch from the Hillary's, Ocean Reef or Two Rocks boat ramps and upon completion of the competition, competitors return to the club for the weigh-in in the boatshed below. After the weigh-in a BBQ is usually held in the boatshed for participants and their families.
Your Club Captain and his Committee invite you to fish in the monthly competitions held on the Saturday before the second Sunday of each month. Should the Saturday be cancelled through inclement weather the competition is held the following day - Sunday. If the weather does not permit to fish on the Sunday, then the competition is cancelled for the month.
Start & Sign on Procedure
Competitions start at 0700 hours from November through to April and at 0700 hours from May through to October. You must report to the MAAC to sign on and this can be done from 45 minutes prior to the competition starting and for any late starters you can report to the Radio Room down below the Club on the waterfront to sign on. Bags must be presented to Field Day Officer - (weigh master) by no later than 1700 hours.Presentation of trophies are usually held in the Boat Shed 1730-1800 hours, but through the summer months, BBQ evenings are held in the boat shed where a good time is usually had by all.

On ANZAC Day the club holds the Wally Lothian Memorial fishing competition with the emphasis more on fun and mateship. There is a sail past the club at 8am and all boats fish close to shore and the competition is finished by 12noon. The fish are then cleaned and a few of the members cook the catch, which is shared amongst the members and with a few drinks a great day is assured.
State Boats is an annual boat fishing competition held on a rotation basis at various clubs around the state. This is the opportunity for boat fishing people to prove their ability against the best in the state. The MAAC has been very successful in this competition over the years.
